What is EV charger installation software?
EV charger installation software tracks each charge point from delivery to handover: which site and bay it serves, its serial, the install and commissioning tests, the DNO notification or application, grant evidence, and sign-off. It is different from a charge point management system, which runs the chargers once they are live.
Last updated . Facts checked on 30 September 2026 against ENA EVCP & HP Connections Form v3.3, GOV.UK: Workplace Charging Scheme guidance for installers, Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021, regulation 3 and IET Code of Practice for EV Charging Equipment Installation, 5th edition.
Why do EV charging rollouts get hard to track?
One charger is a straightforward job. Forty chargers across six sites is a logistics project: deliveries to different car parks, groundworks and cabling on different dates, crews moving between sites, a commissioning test for every unit, DNO paperwork for every premises, and grant photos showing each serial number. Most of that ends up in a spreadsheet that is out of date by the second site.
Serials that don't match the bay
Grant claims and handover packs need each serial tied to its location and parking space. A list of serials with no bay reference means another site visit.
DNO paperwork left to the end
Whether you notify within 28 days or apply before connecting, it is a separate job for each premises that is easy to lose between sites.
Commissioning without a record
The charger works on the day, but nobody can later show which tests were run, the results, or who witnessed them.
How do you manage an EV charging installation, site by site?
01 · Set up sites and chargers
Add each customer site and parking area, then the chargers for it from your product library, with data points for serial, rating and anything else you record.02 · Schedule deliveries and crews
Put deliveries on a schedule per site and book installers and subcontractors on the calendar. Check chargers in by QR code when they arrive.03 · Install and commission
Installers record the serial and complete the install and commissioning form on each charger, offline if the car park has no signal, with photos.04 · Paperwork as tasks
A finished install triggers the tasks for the DNO notification or application, grant claim evidence and the handover pack, each with an owner.05 · Hand over and maintain
Collect signatures, issue a branded report, then log faults and maintenance visits against the charger that needs them.Set up your next charge point rollout in Integrio.
What should EV charger installation software do?
A rollout is a list of chargers, each with a location, a serial, a set of tests and a pile of paperwork. Integrio keeps all of it on the charger record, across every site.
✓Chargers by site and bay
Search and filter installed chargers by customer, site or space, with each one's data points, test records, history and helpdesk tickets.
✓Commissioning form per charger
Attach install and commissioning forms to each charger, with mandatory fields so the required checks are completed before project sign-off.
✓Serials and photos in one place
Record serials as data points and attach photos of the unit, its label and the bay it serves, ready for grant claims and handover.
✓Workflows for third-party paperwork
Trigger tasks start the DNO, grant and handover jobs when an install is finished, with task instructions so each one is done the same way.
✓Crews and subcontractors
Book crews on a calendar synced with Office 365 or Google, see travel time between sites, and give subcontractors access to their projects only.
✓Maintenance after handover
Raise helpdesk tickets and schedule maintenance visits against a charger. A phone scan of its QR code opens a fault submission page.

What paperwork surrounds a commercial charge point install?
The rules and guidance below were checked on 30 September 2026. They apply in Great Britain; check the current version before relying on them.
| Topic | What the source says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Telling the DNO | Review the ENA form before installing. If every notification criterion is met, notify the DNO within 28 days of installing. Otherwise apply before connecting. One criterion is that only one additional piece of equipment is being connected; multiple chargers or premises use the ENA multiple installations spreadsheet. | ENA EVCP & HP Connections Form v3.3 |
| Before installing | The ENA form asks for a load survey to work out maximum demand, and an adequacy of supply assessment before a charge point is installed. | ENA EVCP & HP Connections Form v3.3 |
| Smart charge points | The 2021 Regulations apply to charge points for cars and vans sold from 30 June 2022, excluding public charge points and rapid charge points of 50 kW or more. Workplace charge points are defined separately from public ones. In-scope charge points must have smart functionality. | SI 2021/1467, regulations 3 and 5 |
| Workplace Charging Scheme | Runs to 31 March 2027. £500 per socket for installs from 1 April 2026, up to 40 sockets across all sites per applicant. Only OZEV-authorised installers can claim, using models on the approved commercial list. | GOV.UK installer guidance |
| Grant claim evidence | Photos showing the model and serial number and the chargepoint's location with the parking space(s) it serves. Work completed and claimed within 180 days of the voucher. | GOV.UK installer guidance |
| Installation practice | The IET Code of Practice (5th edition, 2023) covers planning and the physical and electrical requirements, including commercial and industrial sites. BS 7671 Section 722 covers EV charging installations. | IET |
The IET Code of Practice 5th edition was aligned with BS 7671:2018+A2:2022; the IET lists BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 as the current amendment, so check which edition applies to your installation.

What should an EV charger commissioning checklist include?
Use this as the starting point for an EV charger installation and commissioning checklist. Build it in the Integrio Form Builder with the tests the IET Code of Practice, BS 7671, the manufacturer and your client's specification require, then attach it to every charger.

Frequently asked questions
What do EV charge point installers ask about installation software?
Ask our team →Is Integrio a charge point management system (CPMS)?
+
No. Integrio is not a CPMS or OCPP back office. It does not connect to chargers, monitor sessions, set tariffs or take payments. It runs the installation around the chargers: deliveries, crews, serials, commissioning forms, paperwork tasks, handover and maintenance visits. Your client or operator's back office runs the chargers once they are live.
Do I need to tell the DNO about a commercial EV charger install?
+
Yes. The ENA connections form says to review it before installing any new charge point. If every notification criterion is met, you connect and notify the DNO within 28 days. If not, you apply before connecting. One of the criteria is that only one additional piece of equipment is being connected, so multi-charger sites usually need an application, and multiple chargers or premises go on the ENA multiple installations spreadsheet. Integrio tracks this as a task; it does not submit the form.

What photos and details do OZEV grant claims need?
+
For the Workplace Charging Scheme, installers must be OZEV-authorised and use a model on the approved commercial list. Claim photos must show the model and serial number and the chargepoint's location including the parking space(s) it serves. The work must be completed and claimed within 180 days of the voucher. Recording serials and photos against each charger in Integrio means the evidence is together when you claim.

Do the Smart Charge Points Regulations apply to workplace and depot chargers?
+
The 2021 Regulations apply to charge points for cars and vans, and do not apply to public charge points or rapid charge points of 50 kW or more. Workplace charge points are defined separately from public ones. Charge points in scope must have smart functionality, including the ability to send and receive information and respond to signals by changing when or how fast they charge. Check scope for each site with the manufacturer and the Regulations.

What should an EV charger commissioning form include?
+
The charger's location and bay, make, model and serial, rating, the physical checks, the electrical test results your installation standard requires, communications and smart settings, a test charge, photos, and installer and client signatures. The IET Code of Practice for EV charging equipment installation and BS 7671 Section 722 set the installation requirements; build their checks into your form.

Does it work in car parks with no signal?
+
Yes. Forms work offline in the mobile app. Everything is saved on the device and syncs automatically when a connection returns, which suits underground car parks and remote depots.
Can we use it for maintenance contracts after handover?
+
Yes. Installed chargers stay on record by customer, site and space. Raise helpdesk tickets against a charger, schedule maintenance visits, track warranty periods, and give customers a portal to report faults and follow progress.
