What is solar PV installation software?

Solar PV installation software runs the delivery side of a solar or battery job: the kit ordered and delivered, where each panel, inverter and battery went, its serial number, the string and inverter test results, the grid-connection steps, the crew calendar and the handover pack. Design, yield estimates, DNO applications and MCS certificates sit in other tools.

Last updated . Facts checked on 30 September 2026 against MCS MIS 3002 Issue 6.0, ENA EREC G99 Form A3-1, IET Code of Practice for Grid-connected Solar PV Systems, 2nd Edition and IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems, 3rd Edition.

Why do commercial solar jobs lose track of kit and paperwork?

A commercial array is a logistics job before it is an electrical one. Pallets of modules, inverters and a battery cabinet arrive over several days, crews move between roofs, and every item carries a serial that belongs in the handover pack. The grid-connection steps run to the DNO's timetable, not yours. When deliveries live in email, serials in a spreadsheet and string tests on paper, the handover pack is rebuilt from memory at the end.

Pallets without a paper trail

A short delivery is spotted on the roof, not at the gate, and nobody can say which pallet was light or who signed for it.

Serials typed up afterwards

Inverter and battery serials copied from photos at the office are easy to transpose, and warranty claims depend on them.

Grid steps outside the plan

The G99 application, offer and commissioning form are tracked in someone's inbox, so energisation dates slip without anyone seeing why.

How do you run a commercial solar installation, from pallet to O&M?

01 · Plan kit and deliveries

Add panels, inverters, optimisers and batteries from your product library or by CSV, then schedule deliveries and check pallets in on site by QR code.

02 · Book crews and grid tasks

Put roofers and electricians on the calendar, and run the G98 or G99 steps as workflow tasks that trigger the next job when one closes.

03 · Install, record and test

Log each product against its roof section with its serial, then complete string and inverter test forms offline, with photos and readings.

04 · Hand over, then maintain

Collect signatures, issue a branded handover record, and schedule O&M visits and support tickets against the installed products.

What should solar PV installation software do?

On a solar job the product is the unit of work. Integrio keeps deliveries, serials, tests and tickets on each panel, inverter and battery record, so the evidence follows the kit from pallet to service visit.

✓Pallets against the project

Each delivery schedule shows what is on order, part-delivered or complete. Short orders get flagged, and a QR scan at the gate logs every pallet as it lands.

✓Serials and data points

Define fields such as serial number, rating, firmware or MPPT input once per product type, and fill them in on site against the right array section.

✓String and inverter test forms

Attach testing forms to each inverter or string, with mandatory fields and conditional questions, built in the drag-and-drop form builder.

✓Grid-connection workflow

Turn application, offer, installation, commissioning form and DNO sign-off into tasks with triggers and instructions, visible on a Kanban board.

✓Roof crews and electricians

Schedule installers and subcontractors, sync with Office 365 or Google Calendar, see teams on a live map, and give contractors access to only their jobs.

✓O&M after handover

Raise tickets against installed products, schedule maintenance visits, track warranty periods, and let a phone scan of a product QR open a fault report.

What documentation does a solar PV handover need?

MCS MIS 3002 Issue 6.0 (mandatory from 18 June 2026) sets the handover pack for MCS-certified solar PV up to 50 kWp DC. The ENA G99 installation form sets what goes back to the DNO. The rows below are what those documents say.

MIS 3002 covers systems up to 50 kWp DC. For larger commercial arrays, confirm with the client and your certification body which scheme and specifications apply.

MIS 3002 says the latest BS 7671 takes precedence over the Code of Practice in a conflict, and points to Part 7-712 on solar PV power supply systems.

MIS 3002's maintenance schedule is advisory. For commercial and industrial sites it suggests monthly customer checks, a yearly intermediate visit and a full visit every two years.

In Great Britain, G99 Type A covers modules from 0.8 kW to under 1 MW connected below 110 kV. National Grid Electricity Distribution asks for forms B3 or C3 as the installation documents on larger installations.

Frequently asked questions

What do solar and battery installers ask about installation software?

Ask our team →

What should a solar PV handover pack include?

+

Under MCS MIS 3002 Issue 6.0, the pack must at least contain every form and checklist used to commission the system, the maintenance requirements and services available, manufacturer manuals and warranty details, any incentive-scheme paperwork, and the extra information in Section 17 of the IET Code of Practice. At handover it comes with a signed document listing the key components installed, the performance estimate and the first periodic inspection interval. The MCS certificate follows within 10 working days of commissioning.

Does Integrio submit G99 applications or issue MCS certificates?

+

No. Integrio does not send anything to the DNO, register installations on the MCS Installation Database or issue MCS certificates, and it does not do PV design or yield estimates. You run the G98 or G99 steps as workflow tasks in Integrio so everyone can see where they stand, and you keep the forms, test results and DNO correspondence on the project record.

When does a solar job need G99 rather than G98?

+

MIS 3002 points installers to EREC G98 for installations up to and including 16 A per phase and EREC G99 above that. The 16 A is the combined AC output of all generators on the supply, so a 3 kW PV system and a 3 kW battery on one single-phase supply fall under G99. For Type A modules, the G99 installation document (Form A3-1) records the commissioning checks and a signed declaration.

Is there a template for string and inverter test results?

+

Yes. Build one in the Form Builder from the list on this page, which follows the fields in the model PV array test report in MIS 3002 Appendix E, and attach it to each inverter or string. Mandatory fields stop a test being signed with a blank Voc or insulation reading, and a failed string can carry a remedial note and a retest.

Can we track battery storage installations too?

+

Yes. Add batteries and battery cabinets as products with their serials and data points, attach your own test and commissioning forms, and keep them on the same project as the array. The IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems (3rd Edition, 2024) covers specifying, designing, installing, commissioning, operating and maintaining storage systems; Integrio holds the records, not the procedure.

Does it work offline on a roof?

+

Yes. Forms are fully usable offline in the mobile app. Everything is saved on the device and syncs to the cloud automatically when the connection is back.

How do O&M visits work after handover?

+

Installed products stay on the customer's site record with their test history. You can schedule maintenance visits, raise and assign support tickets, track warranty periods with alerts before they expire, and give the customer a portal to log issues. MIS 3002 suggests, as advisory, monthly customer checks, a yearly intermediate visit and a full visit every two years for commercial and industrial systems.
