Count the battery as generation
A battery inverter adds to the per-phase total just like a PV inverter. Adding storage to an existing G98 site is the classic way to end up needing G99 without noticing.

For a G99 application you need the customer and site details, the total AC rating of all generation and storage per phase, existing MPANs and connection agreements, a single line diagram, equipment details with type test references, import and export requirements, and a target commissioning date. Forms go to the local DNO, not to ENA.
Last updated . Facts checked on 30 September 2026 against ENA: Connecting commercial generation to the electricity networks and ENA: Connection of Power Generating Modules to DNO Distribution Networks in accordance with EREC G99 (v9, October 2022).
Who uses it
Installers' project managers and design engineers preparing the grid-connection paperwork for a commercial PV or battery job.
When
At design stage, before the application goes to the DNO, then kept open until the DNO has confirmed commissioning.
In Integrio
Build it once in the Form Builder (Office User), attach it to projects, and your team fills it in on iOS or Android, offline if needed.

From the field
A battery inverter adds to the per-phase total just like a PV inverter. Adding storage to an existing G98 site is the classic way to end up needing G99 without noticing.
The import MPAN, any export MPAN and details of existing connection agreements come from the customer, and they are the items most often still missing when the drawings are finished.
Where inverters or protection are type tested, quoting the reference numbers lets the DNO check compliance without asking for it at site. Keep the certificates with the job.
On fast track, the planned commissioning date has to sit between 10 working days and three months after you apply. Schedule the crew and the pallet deliveries to that date, not the other way round.
ENA says G98 applies to generation under 3.68 kW per phase (16 A) and G99 above it. MIS 3002 makes clear the threshold is the aggregate AC output of all generators on the supply, so a 3 kW PV system plus a 3 kW battery on one single-phase supply needs G99. Under G98 you install first and notify the DNO within 28 days.

Since 9 November 2022, small single installations whose aggregate capacity, storage included, stays within 32 A or 60 A per phase (depending on the procedure), all on fully type-tested inverters that won't run on loss of mains, can apply on Form A1-2. Commissioning must be planned 10 working days to three months after applying, and confirmed on Form A3-2 within 28 days.

Sometimes. The installer carries out the tests, and the DNO may choose to witness them, for a fee. Which tests are witnessed depends on what type tests, manufacturer data and studies have already proved. Type-tested interface protection can remove the need, although on-site function tests are still needed if the protection was type tested on its own.

No. Integrio does not submit G98 or G99 applications or talk to DNOs. Applications go to your local DNO, directly or through ENA Connect Direct, which is free for installers. Integrio holds this checklist, the attachments and the dates against the project, and a workflow can start the next task when a step is done.

Yes. Copy the fields into your own checklist or spreadsheet, or set it up in Integrio so every commercial PV and battery job follows the same steps.
Build it in the Integrio Form Builder, which is on the Office User plan (£65 per user per month), and attach it to the project so each job follows the same steps. Anyone on the Field Service User plan (£15 per user per month) can fill it in on the mobile app, offline if needed, with file uploads and signatures.
